Charities…

On Wednesday 21st July 2010 a small expedition group of 12 local customers & staff, myself included, will be attempting the 3 peaks challenge! This challenge consists of a 5-day expedition to walk to the peaks of the 3 highest Mountains in Scotland; England & Wales these peaks are Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England & Mount Snowdon in North Wales.

Our challenge will start on 21st July, when we travel north to Scotland, and set up base camp at the foot of Ben Nevis, in Scotland which is Britain’s highest mountain. Sleeping over night we will rise early on 22nd July, then after a hearty breakfast we will walk up the trail to the peak of Ben Nevis a height of 4409 ft above sea level! Then after a well-deserved rest, will return to the base camp, pack up and head on down to Cumbria, a journey of 7-8 hours by road, to Scafell Pike in Cumbria, England’s highest mountain 3209 ft above sea level! On arrival we will be again setting up base camp for us to walk to the peak of Scafell Pike in the Morning of the 23rd July, again a much deserved rest at the peak, back to base camp to pack up again and head of to Mount Snowdon by Road, where we will again set up camp, get up bright and early on 24th July, and again walk to the peak of s highest Mountain, Mount Snowdon 3560 ft above sea level! After much celebration we will make our way back to base camp have a few drinks in the local pub! Spend our last night in Wales then head back to the Thomas a Becket, here in Worthing on the Sunday 25th.

We are doing this challenge to raise money and awareness to two very important Charities “Help for Heroes” the charity in support of all those wounded men and women who bravely fought in over seas conflicts and are in desperate need of rehabilitation. And “The Chestnut Tree Hospice”, which is the only children hospice in Sussex and cares for local children and young people from birth to 19 years of age, with life threatening illnesses. I’m sure you will agree both worthwhile charities.
